Poker is quite a famous and notorious game. There could only be few people who would not know about how the game is played. The game is played with various variations. But the basic remains the same.
Poker is basically a card game. People stake money to add to the excitement of the game. Who so ever has a better card hands, wins the game and the money staked. If you are a new player for the game of poker the following would help –
• “A check” – To avoid give up once interest in the money pot, a player bets zero
• “Raise or Bet” – Means that the bet a player makes is greater than made by any other on the table. After such a bet is made, the other players in case want to claim the money pot, need to bet higher than that.
• “A call” – in case a player made a raise (as described above), one needs to at least bet the same amount if not more, and if one want the money to be avoided from being forfeited & wants the game to continue.
• “Folding” – this is when one assumes or one knows that the other person has better chances of winning, as he might have superior cards. This is basically called out when one gives up your hope of claiming the pot.
These are some basic rules that you should know if you are new to the game of poker.
